Since my dad passed away in May this year, (RIP Papa-Tata) - I find myself watching home movies that he made, I'm watching one about every week or 2. So, the other day, I came across the video of when we first moved to Peachtree City in 1985. I remembered when my dad couldn't put down the recorder, especially going over to the house that was being built for us and recording the workers working.
Well, when the house was done being built, there was a ton of issues with the new build, a ton. The driveway was already cracking and creating 58 holes all throughout, the garage floor was also cracking and you could see holes with the dirt, so the pour was extremely thin. I talked to my mom a bout that the next day, and she couldn't remember how they remedied the situation. I was 15 at the time, so I couldn't care less about anyone but myself and planning on how I was going to run away back to Miami again because I was homesick (didn't work, and, I'm still here 39 yrs later.)
Now that I'm a grown-up and a Realtor, I know it is extremely imperative that even when a home is being built for you, you still need to get it inspected so you know where you live is going to be solid.
Not all our home movies are about watching a home being built, we have a bunch more throughout the early and later years. I'm so glad I have those to watch, I hope you have some as well, they are timeless.
In this picture above, there's my dad with his camcorder when Bill & I got married.
